A Young Female Quits Drinking, Suffers From Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms, And Makes Up Her Mind To Get Alcohol Rehab

Kayla is a twenty-eight-year-old legal assistant who has been consuming alcohol in an abusive and excessive manner since her live-in boyfriend and she decided to break up. In actual fact, for the past eight months she has been drinking nearly a bottle of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number shots all through the day. In short Kayla has been drinking so hazardously and excessively that it's a miracle that she hasn't suffered from alcohol withdrawals when she tried to quit drinking.

After feeling dejected because she was starting to let her health go downhill, Kayla finally told herself that enough is enough, that it's time to stop the self pity routine, that it's time to quit the irresponsible and excessive drinking, and time to get going with her life. So the next Saturday morning at 9:30 AM, she made up her mind to quit drinking completely and suddenly without planning or preparation.

When she called her best friend and told her that she had quit drinking and that after a couple of hours she all of a sudden began experiencing flu-like symptoms, Nicole, her best friend, told Kayla to call her doctor and go over what she was experiencing.

Her healthcare professional told her that she may be experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and that she should have a neighbor or friend drive her to the emergency room ASAP. It seems that her doctor had called ahead and told the emergency room personnel to expect Kayla because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two paramedics who without hesitation asked her to lie down on the portable bed they had with them.

An emergency room doctor gave her some medications to lessen her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some meds to help eliminate the alcohol that was still in her bloodstream. After an hour or two, Kayla was taken from the ER and transported to the recovery room.

After she was in recovery for about an hour, Doctor Arndt, a drug and alcohol addiction specialist, came to visit her. He took quite a bit of time and clearly explained that Kayla had gone through alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she stopped drinking because she had become dependent on alcohol.

He then mentioned the fact that with heavy drinking on a daily basis, the individual's brain progressively adapts to the alcohol so that it can process things in a "normal" way. When the drinker then abruptly quits drinking alcohol, understandably, the brain reacts by bringing forth alcohol withdrawal symptoms. In addition, her physician also explained the various alcoholism symptoms that an alcohol addicted person regularly suffers through as the disease gradually gets worse.

Fortunately for Kayla, it was verified that she was in the earliest stage of alcoholism and, as a result, she was given a good projection for a full recovery if she obtains the alcoholism rehabilitation she needs.

Kayla told the doctor that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to restore her health. She also stated that she has an outstanding hospitalization insurance policy that will probably pay for most, if not all, of the costs needed for rehab. It was clear to see that Kayla was quite happy with her optimistic medical forecast and felt free from anxiety knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol dependency rehabilitation she requires so that she can start on the road to recovery.
