Putting In Doors On The Shower To Keep Your Bathroom Consistently Appearing Neat And Clean

It seems like there are always a lot of things to do when you own your house. There are the basic maintenance tasks to stay up with and also the constant minor fixes to keep everything in working order. We have found that as we replace items in our home we're always looking for ways to decrease the amount of time we need to put into maintain the new items. One of the very best time savers we discovered for keeping the bathrooms clean and sanitary is putting in shower doors.

The home that we moved into has two bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom has a shower stall and the upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Both had shower curtains. When we moved in I bought new shower curtains and decorated the baths around the themes on the curtains. This is quite easy to do with the many bath accoutrements that are available. The baths looked clean and fresh. It did not take long for us to realize that we had to make sure that the curtain in the shower stall was pulled into place properly to keep away from getting the floor wet. This is the bath that company use when they stay, so we needed to show them how to position the shower curtains before they took a shower. We had numerous incidents where guests ended up mopping the floor. We determined we needed to have a different method. We went to a home improvement shop to find out what options we had. The sales clerk recommended that we install shower doors. There were numerous styles to choose from. There are permanent shower doors which open and close like a regular door. We could not go with this type because the door would bump against the toilet. There were also shower doors that sit upon a track and slide past each other. There were models which allowed for both doors to slide and there were alternative models that featured one still door while the other moved. The clerk stated that the doors that both move allow for easier washing of the shower stall. The shower doors were sold in plastic, fiber glass and glass. The fiber glass doors on the shower were available in frosted or clear. There were also designs that had mirrors on the side that faced the room. Every make and model came with framing that might be custom fitted for the shower opening.

We purchased the doors on the shower which slid past one another in frosted glass. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install the frame and to position the glass doors. The room appeared quite a bit bigger and neater without the shower curtain hanging there. We obtained a squeegee to clean the glass doors on the shower.

We were so pleased with the glass shower doors in the small bathroom that we went back to the shop and purchased sliding glass doors for the shower/bathtub combo. The framing is anchored to the bathtub and the doors move on the track. The time it takes to clean the bathrooms is greatly reduced and I don't have to be concerned about mold accruing on the glass doors on the shower like it did on the plastic liner of the curtains.
